The exhibition at Kraków’s Piwnica pod Baranami brings together three painterly approaches, for which the canvas becomes a tender membrane. The titular “subcutaneous landscape” is a space where biography meets biology, and where the unspoken finds its visual record in the very structure of the paint.
The project grew out of a conversation that began around a campfire in Szczawnica – the moment when the three artists, students of the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts, realised that despite their different professional paths, they shared the same “inner architecture”. This is painting about self-determination and the courage to map one’s own identity.
Agnieszka Danecka translates the language of the psychosomatic onto monumental canvases. As a psychologist, she examines trauma and memory inscribed in tissue, searching in painting for a universal language of empathy.
Edyta Powroźnik creates emotional afterimages on the border between abstraction and figuration. Her painting is an intuitive insight into nature, which becomes a mirror for the modern female psyche.
Olga Rasińska (KOBA) explores the borderlands between reality and the oneiric realm. Her works record a subcutaneous unease, where the body becomes the last, fragile refuge.
This is an exhibition about what “seeps through” our everyday life. It is an invitation to step beneath the surface of the image.

The exhibition was on view at Piwnica pod Baranami in Kraków (Rynek Główny 27) from 18 to 31 May 2026. The opening took place on 21 May.
