Ceramics in the Net

Project

“Ceramics in the Net” is a project by the Pottery Centre in Medynia Głogowska, where contemporary ceramics meet metalwork. Its starting point was the old technique of wiring vessels — a metal mesh that once mended cracked forms, here becoming a deliberate decoration and a dialogue between the fragility of clay and the strength of metal. The vessels were created in collaboration between potters of three generations and a metalwork artist. They were fired traditionally, in a wood-burning kiln, as well as using the raku technique.
I took part in this project with my own ceramics. For me it is a natural extension of painting — the same attentiveness, only in a different material. Clay teaches patience and humility towards a process that cannot be rushed.
