I have planted balm, nettles grew

„I planted balm, and nettles grew” is one of the works I created for the Painted with Tradition project. In this piece, I highlight a traditional fabric from my region—linen—and elements of embroidery, reimagined with a contemporary touch. Plant motifs such as lemon balm and nettle are especially meaningful to me. Each carries its own symbolism: lemon balm represents relaxation and peace, while nettle speaks of strength and renewal.

For me, connecting with nature is a way of reconnecting with ourselves—it reminds us of the harmony and resilience we carry within. Sometimes, just a single moment in nature is enough to restore balance, bring calm, and offer a fresh perspective.
